Logistics expert adding value
Monday, 1 Sep, 2008After more than a decade as an SAP consultant, Tycho Treumann knows the technology better than most. But just as importantly, he knows the technology only has value if it supports and improves the business processes.
Tycho is a Solution Architect at Soltius and recently emigrated from Holland, where he was the team lead of what was widely regarded as the best team of SAP Logistics Execution (LE) consultants in the Netherlands.
With specialised skills in SAP’s logistics modules – Tycho’s expertise includes Materials Management (MM) and Sales and Distribution (SD) – he says he has always focused on how the technology supports the business.
“It was something that was drilled into me in my first job. You start with the right business process and find the best way to support that, not just configure a transaction and then expect the processes and people to adapt.”
Tycho has worked on projects in Holland, Germany, Sweden and Belgium for a range of companies, including Heineken, Sony and Nikon.
He says one of the most interesting projects he worked on was for well know brewery Grolsch. “Though most projects were interesting in their own way, I would say it was the most interesting, both because of the setting – building a completely new, very modern brewery – and the content. It was one of the first implementations of Task and Resource Management and a decentralised Logistics Execution System.”
His solution architect role at Soltius means less functional consulting and more time spent on project management and team lead duties, which Tycho says he enjoys. Although he still likes to get hands-on with the system.
“I have a good understanding of SAP and how the system fits within a business, and I like sharing my knowledge and experience. This current role gives me an opportunity to do what I enjoy most and at the same time provide added value.”
Soltius is officially the best SAP consulting firm in the country to work for after being named in the top 10 at last week’s JRA Best Places to Work Awards.
